How Do I know if I am Saved?

September 16th, 2008

Hi y’all.

One of the things that many churches (and preachers!) take for granted is that everyone in church on Sunday knows what ‘Salvation’ truly means. We assume that because someone came to church, and got up to sing at the right time, and bowed their head for prayer at the appropriate moment, and put a little something in the collection plate when it came around - well surely they must know what it means to be saved! How wrong we are!

This past Sunday was a celebration of God’s Simple Plan of Salvation. We talked about the ‘Romans Road’ to salvation, scriptures from Paul’s letter to the Romans, simply leading us in a clear understanding of God’s plan. Here’s how it goes…

Romans 3:23 - “For ALL have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.” Sin separates us from God. We must acknowledge and admit that we are sinners.
Romans 6:23a - “The wages of sin is death.” We will all die a physical death, and sin results in spiritual death.
Romans 6:23b - “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Salvation is a FREE GIFT from God! We cannot earn it, but we can decide to receive it. How can this be? Read on…
Romans 5:8 - “God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!” Jesus paid for all of our sins with His death on the cross. AND, His resurrection is proof that God accepts the payment IN FULL! AND NOW HEAR THIS…
Romans 10:9 - “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved.
10:13 - “Whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

It is that simple! Simple as A, B, C.
A - Acknowledge and Admit that you are a sinner and Ask forgiveness.
B - Believe that Jesus was God’s Son, that he died for your sins, and that He was raised from the dead.
C - Confess Him as Lord - Call upon His name. And you SHALL BE SAVED!

I just wanted to make sure that you know - it is too important for me to take anything for granted! Blessings, Charlie
