What is a
Christian?
A Christian is a person who follows Jesus.
How do I
“follow” Jesus?
You “follow” Jesus by using His life as
an example for how to live your life.
How do I know
how Jesus lived His life?
The New Testament of the Bible was written by people who knew Jesus
when He was living on Earth. They have written down the
important parts about how He lived His life and how you can do that
also.
Why is it
important to follow Jesus?
Because God came to Earth in the form of a man – this man was
Jesus. So, you can trust that Jesus was showing us the right
way to live. Remember, God can change you and most
importantly, God loves you!
So, does this
get me into Heaven?
Nope! Doing good things or living the right way does not get
you into Heaven. These are things that we do because they
make God happy. There’s only one way to get into
Heaven.
Okay, so how
do I get into Heaven?
First, admit that the bad things that you do (the Bible calls this
"sin") breaks your relationship with God. Then believe that
God sent Jesus to Earth to heal that relationship. Then say a
prayer and ask Jesus to take control of your life and show you how to
live (in other words, ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior).
If you’re not sure how to do this, ask another Christian,
perhaps one of the Pastors.
What about
Baptism?
Jesus got baptized when He was on Earth and so did His
followers. So, Christians do this to show themselves and
others that they belong to Jesus.
What else
should I do?
• Read the Bible. If you don’t
have one, we’ll give you one. Start with the book
of Mark in the New Testament.
• Pray. Prayer is talking to God.
Some people pray out loud, some people pray silently – how
you talk to God is between you and God!
• Worship with Other Christians. You can
worship here at Liberty Hill or at any other Christian
church. If you need help finding a Christian church, ask one
of the pastors.
• Find Christian friends who can help you.
You can take a Christian class, a Bible study, join a prayer team, let
us know and we’ll help you find the place that’s
right for you.
